'New Suanmali', the renovation project in Old-Town District of Bangkok which is in an economic area, Every square meter of those area, various activities happen all the time. We’ve brought the character of changing and ambiguity to represent the story of place.

The Ideas of building use come from the owners who have the passion to create the new chapter of family’s business. They put café, banquet areas, accommodation for family group, rooftop bar & garden to complement and fulfill the existing hotel and make the old building back to life again.

Ordinary materials – ‘Steel frame and frosted glass’, was designed to be additional façade. Inner layers of steel frame in Thai-wooden partition pattern is the simple decorative elements that was typically found in that area. Another layer of obscured frosted glass panel brought the light but not the view into the interior. Also the outsider can recognize the silhouette effect (ambiguous movement) then we call the ‘silhouette of life’
